Trainers Preferred by Dog Owners for Exceptional Training!
Welcome to our esteemed dog training services.
At K9 Paws Behavior Dog Training, we set the standard for excellence by holding Master Trainer Certifications through the internationally recognized American Society of Canine Trainers International (ASCTI)—a distinction earned through more than just attendance or time in the field. These certifications reflect a deep commitment to professional integrity, as they are awarded only when a trainer demonstrates exceptional skill, real-world experience, knowledge, and accountability.
What sets ASCTI apart—and in turn, sets us apart—is that certification is not based on the number of years a person has trained, how many dogs they’ve worked with, or whether they’ve completed a course. It is performance-based, requiring proof of ability through hands-on demonstration, strict evaluations, and adherence to high ethical and professional standards.
This aligns directly with our mission: to provide every client and their dog with safe, effective, and humane training rooted in real results—not theory. When you choose K9 Paws Behavior Dog Training, you’re choosing a program led by certified professionals who are held to the highest standards in the industry.
We don’t just train dogs—we educate handlers, strengthen the human-animal bond, and build lasting results through proven, responsible training methods.
At K9 Paws Behavior Dog Training, we use a balanced approach rooted in the science of canine behavior and learning theory. We understand that no two dogs are the same, which is why we do not rely on a one-size-fits-all method. With a wide range of training techniques, tools, and strategies, we customize each program to meet the unique needs of every dog and handler team we work with—including specialized training in HRD (Human Remains Detection) and SAR (Search and Rescue)
We believe in straightforward and ethical training practices. If your goals fall outside of our areas of expertise, we’ll refer you to a trusted professional who can better assist you. We are clear from the beginning about what can realistically be achieved based on each dog’s temperament, behavior, and history—setting you and your dog up for success with honest expectations.
What truly sets K9 Paws Behavior Dog Training apart is our genuine care for each dog and handler we work with. Your goals become our goals. If we determine we are not the right fit, we will help you find someone who is—because helping teams succeed is more important than ego. We are here to support your journey, first and foremost, with professionalism, compassion, and a results-driven mindset.
At K9 Paws Behavior Dog Training, we don’t just train dogs—we help build confident, reliable companions through a philosophy grounded in trust, respect, and purpose-driven communication. With over two decades of hands-on experience, we’ve remained at the forefront of the dog training industry, known for our safe, effective, and humane approach that creates real, lasting results
Our philosophy is simple: train the dog in front of us. No cookie-cutter programs. Every dog is unique, and we tailor each training plan based on the dog’s temperament, age, breed, and the goals of the owner. Whether we’re working with a rowdy puppy, a service dog in training, or a K9 preparing for public work, we adapt our proven methods to meet the individual needs of each team.
At K9 Paws, we believe in clear boundaries, balanced guidance, and positive reinforcement—but we also believe in accountability and consistency. Dogs learn best when they understand what is expected of them, and when their efforts are rewarded appropriately. Our training builds a foundation of mutual respect without relying on fear, pain, or intimidation.
We only use tools and treats we trust on our own dogs, because we stand behind our methods with integrity and transparency.
We go beyond the basics. Our training is structured to help dogs succeed not only in the classroom, but out in real-world situations—from the home and backyard to public parks and community events. We create calm, responsive, and well-mannered dogs who can adapt to new environments, distractions, and challenges with confidence.
Whether it’s therapy dog work, service dog training, competitive obedience, or just a well-mannered family pet, we provide the building blocks for success
With more than 20 years of professional experience, multiple Master Trainer Certifications, and recognition as the most award-winning training business in the tri-state area, K9 Paws Behavior Dog Training sets the standard in quality and care.
Our trainers are certified through respected organizations like ASCTI and the AKC, and we remain committed to ongoing education, innovation, and ethics. We’re proud to lead by example—not just in how we train, but in how we treat every dog and owner who walks through our doors.
At K9 Paws Behavior Dog Training, our mission is to empower dog owners with the knowledge, tools, and confidence to build lasting, respectful relationships with their dogs through safe, humane, and effective training methods.
With over 20 years of experience, we have remained at the forefront of the dog training industry by combining hands-on expertise with certified, results-driven education. Our training philosophy is rooted in trust, clear communication, and tailoring every session to the individual needs of the dog and handler.
We proudly serve families, veterans, working dog handlers, and pet owners with integrity and compassion. Whether we’re training a beloved family companion or a specialized working K9, every technique and tool we use has been personally tested and proven on our own dogs—ensuring safety, consistency, and reliability.
We believe well-trained dogs contribute to happier homes, safer public spaces, and stronger human-animal bonds. That’s why we are committed not only to training dogs but to educating and supporting the people who love and care for them.
1. Safety First
We use only safe, humane, and effective training methods that protect the physical and emotional well-being of every dog.
2. Education-Based Approach
We are committed to ongoing learning and professional development, staying current on best practices to better serve our clients.
3. Integrity & Transparency
We train with honesty and integrity—every tool, technique, and treat we use on our clients' dogs is the same we use on our own.
4. Compassion & Respect
We value every dog and owner as individuals. Our programs are designed to respect the unique personality, pace, and goals of each team.
5. Community Commitment
We give back through free veteran training programs, shelter donation drives, and public education to help strengthen the bond between dogs and their communities.
6. Results That Matter
We aim for long-term success, not quick fixes. Our goal is to create balanced, confident, and well-mannered dogs that thrive at home and in public.

At K9 Paws Behavior Dog Training, a K9 Evaluation is the essential first step in determining if a dog is suitable for specialized work such as Therapy Dog, Service Dog, Detection K9, Search and Rescue (SAR), or Human Remains Detection (HRD).
Each evaluation is conducted by certified master trainers and is tailored to the intended role. It is not a pass/fail test, but an honest, behavior-based assessment of the dog’s current abilities, temperament, and potential for future training.
During the evaluation, we assess:
Temperament and social behavior
Environmental stability and confidence
Motivation and drive (food, toy, hunt, scent)
Focus and handler engagement
Reaction to distractions, sounds, and surfaces
Willingness to work and learn
The specific traits evaluated will vary depending on the K9’s intended job, but our goal is always to identify whether the dog is a good candidate and what training path best suits them.
Over 20 years of professional, humane, results-based training experience
Master Certified Trainers with multiple specialty certifications
Evaluations conducted using real-world setups, not just controlled environments
Honest feedback — we’ll tell you what your dog can do, not just what you want to hear
Evaluations take place at our 46,560 sq ft outdoor training facility — the largest in the tri-state area
Evaluations typically last 60–90 minutes and include a verbal overview and professional recommendation. Call or message us to schedule your K9 Evaluation today.
Let us help you uncover your dog’s working potential — whether it’s bringing comfort, supporting independence, or serving on the front lines. 🐾
