Rabies

Vaccinaton Requirements at K9 Paws Behavior Dog Training

Vaccinaton Requirements at K9 Paws Behavior Dog Training

Puppies should receive their first rabies vaccination at 12-16 weeks of age, with a booster given one year later. After that, follow-up boosters are required every 1-3 years. Maintaining up-to-date rabies vaccinations is also necessary for dogs to participate in public events and training programs.

Distemper/Parvo

Vaccinaton Requirements at K9 Paws Behavior Dog Training

Distemper/Parvo

At K9 Paws Behavior Dog Training, we emphasize the critical importance of ensuring all dogs are up-to-date on distemper and parvovirus vaccinations before participating in any training programs. These vaccinations protect dogs from highly contagious and potentially life-threatening diseases that can spread rapidly in group settings, including training classes, parks, and social environments. Keeping dogs vaccinated not only safeguards their individual health but also helps maintain a safe and healthy environment for all participants. By requiring proof of vaccination, we demonstrate our commitment to responsible training practices, ensuring every dog can learn and socialize in a protected, disease-free setting.

Bordetella

Bordetella

Distemper/Parvo

Bordetella, commonly known as kennel cough, is a highly contagious respiratory infection in dogs, particularly in environments where dogs are in close contact, such as training classes, boarding facilities, or dog parks. Vaccination against Bordetella is strongly recommended for dogs that participate in group activities or are frequently exposed to other dogs. The vaccine helps reduce the severity of symptoms and limits the spread of the infection, protecting both the individual dog and the larger canine community. At K9 Paws Behavior Dog Training, we advise that dogs be up-to-date on their Bordetella vaccination prior to attending classes or events, ensuring a safe and healthy training environment for all participants.

Fecal Exam

Bordetella

Fecal Exam

At K9 Paws Behavior Dog Training, we require a negative fecal exam prior to participation in any of our classes to ensure the health and safety of all dogs and handlers in our programs. Fecal exams detect the presence of intestinal parasites such as roundworms, hookworms, giardia, and coccidia, which can not only compromise the affected dog’s health but also pose a risk of transmission to other dogs. By requiring proof of a recent negative fecal test, we maintain a safe, sanitary, and comfortable training environment protecting the well-being of every dog while supporting successful training outcomes. This requirement reflects our commitment to the highest standards of animal care and responsible pet ownership.
